The National Gallery of Australia, located in Canberra, is Australia’s premier national visual arts institution. It houses a vast collection of over 155,000 works of art, including significant holdings of Australian, European, American, Asian, and Pacific art. The gallery is renowned for having the world’s largest collection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art, alongside notable collections in French Impressionism, Dada and Surrealism, Russian avant-garde, Abstract Expressionism, Pop Art, Minimalism, and Conceptual Art.

Situated on the southern shore of Lake Burley Griffin within Canberra’s Parliamentary Triangle, the National Gallery of Australia occupies a heritage-listed building known for its innovative Brutalist architecture designed by Colin Madigan AO.
